Is Christianity Intellectual Suicide?

Brian Elfick became a Christian when he was about eight and his mum explained why Easter was about more than chocolate eggs. Today he works for a church in Cambridge, where his job is to encourage students to follow Jesus. He once studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics, he has worked in New York and Sydney, but now he mostly just plays golf!

1. The nature of God
Some aspects of God’s being and working are beyond our understanding (Job 38:4-7)

2. the nature of the evidence he’s given us
Not a water-tight proof, but a water-tight person (Luke 1:1-4)
Legends?
i) the timing’s too early
ii) the content’s too counter-productive
iii) the literary style is too detailed

3. The nature of faith
i) Faith in Jesus is intellectually responsible
ii) Following Jesus will involve a kind of suicide (Luke 9:23)
